Our Emergency Pandemic Response

Protecting Our Communities

For the past decade, Seeds of Africa has been empowering the African vision by educating the next generation of Ethiopia’s leaders and enabling their mothers to become entrepreneurs. During the current global COVID-19 pandemic, our goal is to minimize its health and socio-economic impact on our students, their families, and our staff.

In order to respond to the immediate and critical needs of our most vulnerable communities, we have decided to shift the way we deliver our programming for the next quarter. Starting in April, we plan to launch an Emergency Response Program in three key areas: Food Security, Health, and Education.

Now, more than ever, we need your help.
Your financial support will ensure that we can effectively provide the relief efforts necessary to protect and sustain our communities.

Our Response

Food Security
In times of economic uncertainty, families living in poverty struggle to keep food on the table. We will deliver food baskets filled with bulk goods to all the families of our students on a monthly basis.

Health
We will deliver critical resources needed to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus like soap and household cleaning supplies to 350 families in addition to continuing our health education efforts.

Low Tech Virtual Education
While our students lack access to internet and computer technology, every household has a family member with a cellphone. Using telecommunications, we will create a rapid response education program with a project-based learning curriculum centered on Learning Through Play across all grades and subjects.

Staff Support on the Ground
We will provide our teachers with weekly phone credit and curriculum-building support so that they can implement our rapid response education plan.

Loan Forgiveness
To alleviate the financial impact on the household incomes of our families, we aim to forgive all outstanding small business micro-loan debt.

Keeping our Team Together
Our priority is to keep our entire team gainfully employed and well supported with the resources they need to implement our alternative programming.

Make an Emergency Gift Today

As the situation is changing rapidly in Ethiopia, we will continue to update you in the coming weeks on how you can help us respond, adapt, and keep our people safe. Together we will show how resilient the Seeds of Africa family is.

Thank you for your partnership.
