2019 Highlights: Our Most Successful Year Yet

We're wrapping up this incredible year by sharing some highlights from 2019. From moving to a new campus, to leading a workshop at the Skoll World Forum, Seeds of Africa had the most successful year to date.
Check out what we've been up to below.

New Seeds, New Campus

The Seeds of Africa school is ever-evolving, and we entered our next phase of growth in 2019 by moving to a larger campus in Adama, Ethiopia. This year we welcomed 50 new students in pre-K and opened our middle school. With our programs growing, our staff has to grow as well! We welcomed 10 new
team members in Ethiopia.

#SeedsSummerCamp

Our annual summer program this year was the most fun, educational and inspiring we’ve had to date. One of the many highlights was our art exhibition, where our students presented their painting and sculpture masterpieces.

Skoll World Forum

This year, our Founder and CEO Atti Worku headed off to Oxford University for the Skoll World Forum, where she was invited to facilitate an interactive workshop titled "Fighting for Fairness: Investing in Local Solutions". Read her post-conference reflective article published on Skoll.org below.

Balancing Power in Philanthropy

Atti Became a MIPAD Honoree

We’re still beaming with pride at Atti's achievement of making 2019's list of Most Influential People of African Descent. Atti was honored at the annual MIPAD recognition week during the 74th United Nations General Assembly in New York City.

We Exceeded our Annual Benefit Goals

Over $170,000 was raised at the sixth Seeds of Africa Annual Benefit this year, where over 250 supporters gathered for an African Marketplace-themed event in celebration of the women at the helm of informal urban African economies, including the mothers we support with small business training and micro-loans.
