Our Founder
Dear Friends,
A few days before I wrote this message, I received an update with the following inspiring photographs of Seeds students painting a mural at our new center in Adama, Ethiopia. Seeing our students’ creativity in these photos - their curiosity and innovative spirits - was a powerful reminder of the mission we have adopted and all of our Seeds’ accomplishments thus far. We’re not creating a light within these children - we’re merely providing the fuel for their light to shine.
Being a child in Africa is challenging in ways that are unimaginable.
In urban areas like Adama, Ethiopia, hardworking families struggle to support the basic and educational needs of their children. Adding to the challenge, they’re often overlooked by aid organizations.
This makes it almost impossible for communities to free themselves from the grasp of poverty.
In my hometown of Adama, Ethiopia, Seeds of Africa is the first organization that fights the root cause of poverty: a lack of education. We do that by providing basic needs support and educational programs for children, young adults and their families.
Our programs are successful (In less than three years!) for a few reasons:
First, our carefully crafted education and community development programs are designed after the needs of local communities. Second, we work with wonderful people: hardworking teachers on the ground, volunteer staff, interns and loyal supporters. Most importantly it’s because Seeds of Africa is a labor of love, passion and dedication to community service.
As we continue to grow and reach more communities in Adama and beyond, we invite you to join the Seeds Family! Spend a few minutes to visit “The Seeds Agenda” page where you’ll find more information about our programs.
And remember, giving back is one of the most fulfilling things you can do.
With Love,
